Congregation B'nai Tzedek's Mission and Values

B'nai Tzedek means "Children of Justice". Our motto, taken from the Book of Deuteronomy, is Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof - "Justice, Justice Shall You Pursue".

We are committed to:
• cultivating a love and understanding of the Jewish heritage;

• stimulating fellowship in the Jewish community and strengthening the bonds of loyalty with the Jewish people everywhere;

• bring near the Kingdom of God on earth through an emphasis on the principles of justice, righteousness and brotherhood in the society at large.

To these ends, we strive to:
• maintain a haimish (warm and welcoming) atmosphere where diversity is welcome, new ideas are respected, individuals are valued for their unique contributions, and each member is recognized as an integral part of the whole;

• provide educational opportunities and services that respond to members' needs, promote a community of lifelong learners, encourage member participation and involvement, and allow for personal growth;

• reinforce Judaism in the family and the home, thereby enhancing the commitment toward Jewish life;

• encourage acts of Tzedekah (righteousness);

• foster a congregational community that provides members comfort and support;

• acquire, conserve, and utilize the necessary resources to provide congregational services;

• be recognized as an integral and contributing member of the Jewish community at large;

• pursue goals in a just, honest, and kind manner in accordance with the principles of Reform Judaism.
