Second and Third Grade Hebrew Studies
Both 2nd and 3rd grade students are orally introduced to basic Hebrew prayers, holiday related and common vocabulary words appropriate for this age group. Utilizing the Hebrew Alef-Bet in conjunction with rabbinic folk stories, students learn important and relevant Jewish values.
As part of our 3rd Grade Judaica program, third grade students and their parents are introduced to Hebrew through an informal and fun Hebrew family education class entitled Shalom Alef Bet! which:
¨ Introduces Hebrew letters and vowels through innovative activities that accelerate letter recognition
¨ Offers a basic Hebrew vocabulary with picture cues to link letters to words
¨ Demonstrates that Hebrew is read from left to right and develops simple “decoding” or reading skills
¨ Introduces Hebrew script writing
¨ Prepares students for a more formal approach to Hebrew, beginning in 4th grade |
