Yom HaShoah Candles

IN MEMORY OF THE SIX MILLION
It has been more than sixty years since the Holocaust that claimed six million Jewish lives. In remembrance, Congregation B’nai Tzedek will join Jews throughout North America by participating in the Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle Program, a program sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs in cooperation with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Men of Reform Judaism.

Each B’nai Tzedek family is encouraged to light a Yellow Candle on Yom HaShoah each spring. Lighting a Yellow Candle increases the awareness of the Holocaust and perpetuates our commitment to our people. Yom HaShoah candles are a highly visible symbol for keeping the flame alive. The color recalls the badges Jews were forced to wear in Nazi-occupied Europe. The flame inspires hope that we can yet make our world a tolerant place to live.

Once again Brotherhood will send a Yellow Memorial Candle to each household in the synagogue to be lit on Yom HaShoah. There is no obligation to pay anything for the candles received in the mail, but donations of course will be appreciated.
